A Fine Building

Scratch the Regency surface of our historic country house and you've got something quite out of the ordinary. A Tudor estate with several characterful Victorian elements and an architectural heart described variously as late Elizabethan and early Jacobean, Charlton is not the product of any one period. Idiosyncratic, it has a certain magnetism which compels guests to return time and again.

An Historic Hotel

Charlton has greeted many a guest in the decades following its conversion from a family home in the 1960s: the King of Thailand often graced its oak floorboards, as did the Duke of Edinburgh. But the history of this building is no less tied up with its proprietors. The visionary behind Mulberry left a proud legacy. KOP Group's luxury hotel experts are now working to take it to even greater heights.

A Place to Stay

At Charlton we appreciate what sits at the very heart of the premium hotel experience: a perfect night's sleep. After a restful evening of conversation in your private courtyard, a soothing massage in our thermal spa, or a soak in an antique roll-top bath you can rest assured that you'll enjoy the sweetest of sleeps. All our rooms have a sumptuous ergonomic mattress for you to eagerly sink into.

A Place to Savour

Eat and drink 'til your stomach's content in our three restaurants, each with a distinctive menu and identity; try your hand at the free weights in our fitness club; or indulge in hydrotherapy and massage in England's first Montigo Spa. Somerset has a vibrant foodie scene and a rich inventory of culture, but Charlton is a destination in itself, with all the ingredients for the perfect getaway.
