Idiosyncratic, it has a certain magnetism which compels guests to return time and again.

Charlton has greeted many a guest in the decades following its conversion from a family home in the 1960s: the King of Thailand often graced its oak floorboards, as did the Duke of Edinburgh. But the history of this building is no less tied up with its proprietors. The visionary behind Mulberry left a proud legacy.
